Qatar’s Government Communications Office (GCO) said it was trying to “protect the safety of consumers”. “Products originating from blockading states, which as a result of the blockade cannot pass the GCC customs territory, has to undergo proper import inspections and customs procedures,” the GCO said in a statement. “Qatar conducts its trade policy in accordance with all of its multilateral and bilateral agreements.” The

Jharkhand: mob attacks Muslims at the time of iftar; forced them to flee

Ranchi: A mob attacked Muslim houses around Iftar (breaking of fast) in the evening and assaulted several people including women in Koderma district of Jharkhand on Friday night. As a result, around 20 Muslim families were forced to flee their homes in the night. The mob also vandalised the masjid and assaulted the Muslims who were offering Maghrib prayer there. The incident took place around 6:30 PM on Friday in the Kolgarma village under Koderma police station. A similar incident had occurred in April last year as well. For the past couple of years, a group of local Hindus has been opposing construction of a masjid in the village. The mob reportedly had been pressurizing the Muslims to withdraw their police complaints over the previous attack. Since the Muslims lodged the complaint last year, they have been facing a boycott. They are not allowed to purchase anything from the village shops and to use even public well. Following the Friday night incident, the Muslims have

If he swallows saliva after it came out to the lips, does that break the fast

Q uestion: Are all the madhhabs agreed about the ruling on swallowing saliva, and that if it had come out to the lips, then swallowing it invalidates the fast? I hope that you can tell me if there is any view that regards it as permissible to swallow saliva if it has come out onto the lips, so that I can follow it, because I suffer from waswasah, and I am looking for the easiest rulings. Please note also that I do not feel entirely convinced that if the saliva has come out to the lips, swallowing it invalidates the fast. I feel that this is not logical. When I woke up from sleep, I found some saliva on the outside of my mouth, and I swallowed it deliberately. A nswer: Praise be to Allah If the fasting person deliberately swallows his saliva after it had come out to his lips, he breaks his fast according to the Shaafa‘is and Hanbalis, because in that case the saliva has become detached from its place, which is the inside of the mouth, so swallowing it is like sw

Sorry Sadness, I’m a Muslim!

Sadness is Temporary Despite trials and tribulations, Islam commands us to stay patient and seek happiness in the darkest of times. There is a sign in the transient nature of life. The effect of tragedy is as shortlived as a momentary smile. The final rewards are with Allah and are saved for the Day of Judgement. What are we but creations at test, entirely dependent on Allah alone, the Controller of our affairs, the Provider of everything, the One with Ultimate Authority over all. As stated in verse 29 of Surah ar-Rahman: Whosoever is in the heavens and on earth begs of Him (its needs from Him). Every day He has a matter to bring forth (such as giving honour to some, disgrace to some, life to some, death to some, etc.)! Stay Strong During Adversity Faith is the only candle that can keep our hearts warm and show us the right way. By lifting the veil of sadness, we can experience the beauty of happiness. History has proven that the people most loved by Allah have en

Muslims are currently marking the holy month of Ramadan, fasting from dawn until sunset, which means going without food for around 18 hours in Anchorage. Inmates ob
