Jharkhand: mob attacks Muslims at the time of iftar; forced them to flee

Ranchi: A mob attacked Muslim houses around Iftar (breaking of fast) in the evening and assaulted several people including women in Koderma district of Jharkhand on Friday night. As a result, around 20 Muslim families were forced to flee their homes in the night. The mob also vandalised the masjid and assaulted the Muslims who were offering Maghrib prayer there. The incident took place around 6:30 PM on Friday in the Kolgarma village under Koderma police station. A similar incident had occurred in April last year as well. For the past couple of years, a group of local Hindus has been opposing construction of a masjid in the village. The mob reportedly had been pressurizing the Muslims to withdraw their police complaints over the previous attack. Since the Muslims lodged the complaint last year, they have been facing a boycott. They are not allowed to purchase anything from the village shops and to use even public well. Following the Friday night incident, the Muslims have ...

He forgives only those who prostrate in front of Him with ashamed spirit and pledge in heart not to do the same again ever. Do Tauba as Allah loves those who repent on their sins, verily He is the only forgiver. –     Be Kind – Forgive All While you are asking for Allah’s forgiveness in this Ashra make sure that you do the same to our fellow Muslims by adopting alike trait of your Lord and let forgive them for all th...

If he swallows saliva after it came out to the lips, does that break the fast

Q uestion: Are all the madhhabs agreed about the ruling on swallowing saliva, and that if it had come out to the lips, then swallowing it invalidates the fast? I hope that you can tell me if there is any view that regards it as permissible to swallow saliva if it has come out onto the lips, so that I can follow it, because I suffer from waswasah, and I am looking for the easiest rulings. Please note also that I do not feel entirely convinced that if the saliva has come out to the lips, swallowing it invalidates the fast. I feel that this is not logical. When I woke up from sleep, I found some saliva on the outside of my mouth, and I swallowed it deliberately. A nswer: Praise be to Allah If the fasting person deliberately swallows his saliva after it had come out to his lips, he breaks his fast according to the Shaafa‘is and Hanbalis, because in that case the saliva has become detached from its place, which is the inside of the mouth, so swallowing it is like sw...

Muslim inmates fed pork during Ramadan: activists

Los Angeles: A federal judge granted a restraining order Thursday forcing prison guards in Alaska to stop giving Muslim inmates pork as they break their fasts during Ramadan, rights campaigners said. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) filed a lawsuit on Tuesday claiming Anchorage Correctional Complex had violated constitutional prohibitions against “cruel and unusual punishment.” CAIR said the US District Court for Alaska had granted its request for an emergency temporary order requiring guards to provide adequate meals in accordance with government health guidelines. “CAIR has reported an unprecedented spike in bigotry targeting American Muslims and members of other minority groups since the election of Donald Trump as president,” the Washington-based organization said in a statement. Muslims are currently marking the holy month of Ramadan, fasting from dawn until sunset, which means going without food for around 18 hours in Anchorage. Inmates ob...

Common mistakes during fasting

Some seemingly innocent errors made by a fasting person can actually affect his fasting. We will take a look at some of these mistakes in the hope of improving our fasting and to make it more perfect for the sake of Allah. Not sniffing water during ablution Neglecting the order to sniff during ablution to the extent of violation by just washing the tip of their nose. A person is required not to exaggerate during sniffing, if he is fasting, but not to violate by leaving it altogether either. The Prophet  sallallaahu  `alayhi  wa  sallam ( may  Allah exalt his mention ) said: "Exaggerate while sniffing unless you are fasting." Imam As-San'ani  may  Allah  have  mercy  upon  him said: "The narration is evidence to exaggerate the sniffing when not fasting. Exaggeration is forbidden when fasting in case something comes down the throat and ruins the fasting." Not abstaining from food Some people keep eating or drin...

Cry Out For Him – Allah Loves Your Tears!

There are many great virtues for crying out of fear from Allah. Allah praised some of His Prophets, then explained the reason for the praise as in His saying: When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping. (Quran: 19: 58) Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet said: One who weeps out of fear of Allah, will not enter the Hell till milk returns back in the udder; and the dust raised on account of fighting in the path of Allah and the smoke of Hell will never exist together. (At-Tirmidhi) The Prophet said: Seven people Allah will give them His Shade on the Day when there would be no shade but the Shade of His Throne (i.e., on the Day of Resurrection): And they are: … and a man who remembers Allah in solitude and his eyes become tearful. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Ibn Abbas reported: “I heard the Messenger of Allah saying: Two eyes will never be touched by the fire of Hell; an eye which weeps out of Fear of...

10 Things You Should Know About Taraweeh

1 Taraweeh means rest and relaxation Qiayam al-Layl in Ramadan after `Isha’ is called taraweeh because righteous people before our time used to rest after every four rak`at as their prayers were lengthy. Taraweeh is sunnah mu’akkadah (a confirmed practice of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him). 2 Praying 5 daily Prayers is more important than taraweeh 5 daily prayers are fard (obligatory) and taraweeh is sunnah (recommended). 3 History of taraweeh In the last year of the Prophet’s life, he came out one night and prayedtaraweeh. On that night, some people prayed with him. during the second night, word spread and more people joined in taraweeh. Even more people attended on the third. On the fourth night, the masjid was packed and the people awaited the Prophet’s arrival. The Prophet, however, prayed at home by himself. after Fajr, he said: “Nothing prevented me from coming out to you except the fact that I feared that it would be...

What Is the Correct Time to Break Fasting?

Q uestion : As-salamu `alaykum. I was in a gathering a few days ago. I was disturbed to see people divided on the issue of when to break the fasting. I saw one group breaking with the adhan over the Radio (Ramadan program), while another group still waiting with dates in their hands for the adhan to finish. What is the sound Islamic ruling on this issue? A nswer : The time for breaking the fast is the time of sunset. So if the sun sets at 4:56 pm, it is the correct time to break the fast. It is immaterial whether the adhan has been called or not. To wait for the adhan to be called after the sun has set, or to wait for the adhan to finish, is a violation of the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), as he has stated clearly, “My Ummah will always enjoy blessings so long as they hasten to break their fast (as soon as the sun has set).”(Al-Bukhari and Muslim) The traditions are explicit on the fact that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)...

20 Common Mistakes People Make in Ramadan

1.Focusing on Food: To focus to the extent that people begin to worry about eating more than actually fasting. This also goes along with spending heaps of money on iftars even though a person does not need to eat that much food. 2.Making Sahoor much before Fajr: Eating sahoor a few hours after Tarawih or Isha prayer is wrong. It should be taken closer to the time of Fajr. 3.Forgetting Intention of Fasting: There are people who don’t make niyyah (intention) for fast, as they think this is something which is in heart and doesn’t need to be verbal. They also think the intention needs to be made once at the beginning of Ramadan and not every single day, which is wrong. 4.First Day Fasting: If you find out late that Ramadan has started, you should stop eating and fast for that day, making that day up after Ramadan/Eid ends. 5.Tarawih Prayer: About Tarawih, some think that it is not prayed on the first night of Ramadan, believing it should be started ...
