Saudi Arabia executes 48 in 2018, half on drug charges

Saudi Arabia has executed 48 people in the past four months, half on non-violent drug charges, Human Rights Watch said, urging the kingdom to improve its “notoriously unfair” criminal justice system. “Saudi Arabia has executed 48 people since the beginning of 2018,” the US-based rights group said in a report published late Wednesday. “Many more people convicted of drug crimes remain on death row following convictions by Saudi Arabia’s notoriously unfair criminal justice system.” The ultra-conservative kingdom has one of the world’s highest rates of execution, with suspects convicted of terrorism, homicide, rape, armed robbery and drug trafficking facing the death penalty. Rights experts have repeatedly raised concerns about the fairness of trials in the kingdom, governed under a strict form of Islamic law. The government says the death penalty is a deterrent for further crime. “It’s bad enough that Saudi Arabia executes so many people, but many of them have not committed a

Kathua rape a ‘small case’, shouldn’t be hyped, says new J&K Dy Chief Minister

JAMMU: Controversy hit a new reshuffled Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday when BJP leader Kavinder Gupta said after being sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister that the rape and murder of a young girl in Kathua was a “minor issue” that should not have been hyped. “The Kathua incident is a minor issue. It should not have been hyped this much,” Gupta said about the crime that triggered widespread outrage across the country and cost two of his party colleagues their ministerial jobs in the Mehbooba Mufti-led BJP-PDP coalition government. Gupta, a known RSS loyalist, however, sought to correct the statement later, saying the matter was already in the court and should be left to the Supreme Court to decide about it. “It is not good to keep talking about it repeatedly. It is not good to keep playing it up again and again. What I said earlier was that there are many such incidents, nobody should provoke (people) about such incidents deliberately.” This is not Gupta’s fir

Did you know, it is Forbidden to fly over the Kaaba

Did you know that in Islam, it is forbidden to fly over the Kaaba and that there is no airport in Mecca? The reason behind these is obvious. The Kaaba is the exact center of the Planet and is the first point to see the sunrise. In scientific terms, since it is the center of gravity, it attracts magnetic charges at that precise location. The Kaaba is where the cosmic rays of gravity of the Earth confluence and vacuum zone in layers of air. Hence, it is not possible for any object, living or non-living, to fly over the Ka’aba. Therefore, there is no airport in the city of Mecca. This also explains why birds fly by surrounding the Mecca, not above it. The Ka’aba is also the light of the Planet. The light that comes from it pierces space and across the sky to the house of Allah called baytul Ma’mour. Hence the house of Allah is at right angles to the Ka’aba on Earth.

Who Built the Kabah ?

Q uestions: What I understand from the Qur’an and tafsir (Arabic for: exegesis of the Qur’an) is that Prophet Ibrahim and his son Isma`il (peace and blessings be upon them) raised the foundations of the Kabah that were beneath the sand. I wonder who initially laid its foundations; was it Prophet Adam (peace and blessings be upon him) A nswer: In response to your question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a senior lecturer and an Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, states: We have no clear evidence in the sources about this, although there are some reports that indicate that the Kabah was built by Prophet Adam (peace and blessings be upon him) and it had been a site of pilgrimage from ancient times; as such, it had been visited by various prophets. These reports, however, do not pass the rigorous standards of scientific verification established by the scholars of Hadith. It is certainly possible, however, to infer from the Qur’an that Prophe

Dua after the final Tashahhud and before ending the Prayer

O Allah, I seek Your protection from miserliness, I seek Your protection from cowardice, and I seek Your protection from being returned to feeble old age. I seek Your protection from the trials of this world and from the torment of the grave. Allaahumma ‘innee ‘a’oothu bika minal-bukhli, wa ‘a’oothu bika minal-jubni, wa ‘a’oothu bika min ‘an ‘uradda ‘ilaa ‘arthalil-‘umuri, wa ‘a’oothu bika min fitnatid-dunyaa wa ‘athaabil-qabr Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 6/35.

The reply of Omar Suleiman that led a non-Muslim woman revert to Islam

Omar Suleiman is a Muslim scholar and speaker. Originating from America, he presides the Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research. He said he was bashed at the University of Florida with bad comments about Islam and his attackers included Terry Jones, who was the first person to burn the Qur’an. He is known to have talked to a non-Muslim woman, who enquired about Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) and his wife Hazrat Ayesha (R.A). During the recent years, Islam has been linked with terrorism and other unlawful acts despite these are strictly prohibited by the religion. It is now uncommon for a person who has little knowledge of this peaceful religion to fall into misconceptions and misunderstandings about it. The life of the Prophet Muhammad (p.b.u.h) has evoked many questions for everyone worldwide, especially his relationship with his wife Hazrat Ayesha (R.A) who got married to him at a very young age. A non-muslim woman approached Omar Suleiman to help her understand the union

The Sons of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had three sons and four daughters. All of his children were born to Hz Khadijah bint Khuwaylid (RA) except one son (Ibrahim), who was born to Hz Maria al-Qibtiyah (RA). In the order of birth sequence, the children of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) are as follows: Qasim Hz Zainab (RA) Hz Ruqayyah (RA) Hz Umm Kulthum (RA) Hz Fatima (RA) Abdullah Ibrahim The Sons of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Qasim ibn Muhammad The first son of Allah’s Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), was Qasim from whom he took his kunyah Abu al-Qasim (the Father of Qasim). Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) liked being called Abu al-Qasim, and his Companions would often call him by this name. [1] Narrated Jabi (RA): A man among us begot a boy whom he named al-Qasim. The people said, “We will not call him (i.e. the father) by that Kunyah (Abu al-Qasim) till we ask the Prophet (PBUH) about it. The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Name yourselves by my name, but do not call (yourselves)

A Tribute to My Sister Michelle

Salam, I wanted to share something about my sister, Michelle. When I converted, she was the one person in my family who supported me from the beginning. She defended me, helped me find hijabs, told my kids which candies were haram lol… She was just an amazing blessing from Allah SWT. When she passed away unexpectedly on 10/23 because of a drunk driver, so many Muslims came out to her funeral in support. I will never forget it. I organized an orthodox service for her and watched as so many brothers and sisters in Islam passed by her coffin. It meant so much for people to offer to read Quran for her, and treat her with as much love as they would any Muslim. It brings me to tears just now thinking of how many said Fatiha for her. Those gestures mean so much, so much. Please, if you know a convert who has lost a family member who isn’t Muslim, offer to recite Fatiha for them. It’s something so important that reverts aren’t getting from other relatives & means so much.

Delhi government says ‘no’ to Muslim school teachers going for Friday prayers

New Delhi, April 27 (IANS) The Delhi government has told the Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) that Muslim teachers cannot be allowed to go for Juma prayers during school hours, a senior official said on Friday. DMC Chairman Zaraful Islam Khan told IANS that the Education Department of the Delhi government had in a written response said that teachers “can’t leave their classes” and go for Juma prayers on Friday, as it would “harm the interests of students”. “They (Education Department) said that the rules can’t be relaxed and teachers have to reach school by 12.45 (p.m) for classes which begin at 1 (p.m),” Khan said. Earlier, teachers had approached the Commission with a request to allow them to go for prayers on Friday, after which it had sought a response from the Education Department and the three municipal corporations on the issue. The response from the municipal corporations were awaited, Khan said. “The teachers told us that there is a Union Home Ministr

Kathua: Main accused Sanjhi Ram planned Bakarwal’s minor murder to save son

SRINAGAR: In a major twist to the Kathua rape and murder case of an eight-year-old, it has come to the fore that the main accused, Sanji Ram decided to get the minor girl killed to protect his son. The police probing the case have said on Friday that Sanji Ram during interrogation admitted in front of the investigators that he found out about the rape after the minor’s abduction and decided to kill her because his son Vishal was also involved in the sexual assault. The Muslim minor from the Bakarwal community was first raped by Ram’s nephew, the same day she was kidnapped. Also, she was kept in a ‘devisthan’, a small temple, where Ram was the custodian, informed the investigators to a leading press agency. According to the investigators, Sanjhi claims that he learnt about the rape only on January 13 after his underage nephew confessed to him and it was then he decided “that time was ripe to kill the girl so as to achieve the ultimate goal” of scaring and driving away

Hundreds of Israelis enter Bait-ul-Maqdis; desecrated the Holy place

Bait-ul-Maqdis: About 100 Israelis escorted by the foolproof security of Israeli army and police, entered Masjid-e-Aqsa and desecrated the first Qibla by performing religious rites. They include Israeli police cops and officials of intelligence agencies in civil dress. According to reports 85 of them were Israeli settlers while 17 were Israeli students. It was reported by Palestinian Awqaf Department that dozens of Israeli settlers have been openly desecrating Masjid-e-Aqsa for the past two days. According to eyewitnesses, a large number of Israeli settlers entered into Masjid-e-Aqsa through Mauritius door. On the occasion, a heavy Israeli force was deployed. According to sources the Israeli police misbehaved with Palestinian devotees and tried to stop them after conducting an identification parade. Palestinians were enraged on the behaviour of the Israeli army and staged a strong protest against the Israeli army and police rowdyism. Israeli army and police had provided fo

Blessed Drink of Nabi Muhammed (SAW)

Nabeez was the favorite drink of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam. It is an alkalizing tonic, removing acidity from the stomach & other metabolic wastes from the body. It improves digestion & memory, fixes the problems of spleen, liver, throat, chest & prostate & will also help patients of Arthritis & uric acid (gout). Being energetic & rejuvenating, Nabeez will bring surprises for you & your health Insha’Allah. Apparently, it is nothing but soaking the raisins overnight & drinking the water in the morning, but when adopted and honored as one of the favorite drinks of Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam, it pulls down Shifa, blessings & mercy from the treasures of Allah. Method: After Isha prayer, soak around 100 grams of raisins in 1 liter of drinkable / healthy water, & keep the utensil covered with a plate. (Manaqqa is the best variety for making Nabeez, but other types can also be used). Next morning,

Seven Reasons to Perform Hajj While Young

7 Reasons to Perform Hajj While Young “The feet of man will not slip on the Day of Resurrection until he is asked of five things: of his life as to how he spent it, his youth as to how he used it, his wealth as to where he got it and how he spent it, and of his knowledge as to what he did with it.” (Tirmithi) “That they may witness benefits for themselves…” (Qur’an, 22:28) From a young age, many of us dream of going to Hajj – to see the Ka`bah in person, the Station of Ibrahim, drink ZamZam, perform tawaaf (circling the Ka`bah), wear the white garments of Hajj, and be with brothers and sisters from around the world in the greatest international gathering in the history of humanity. It is a rare opportunity for forgiveness, for change, for turning to the Creator, and for Paradise, insha’Allah (God willing). But it can sometimes feel out of reach and far away. This is especially the case with the youth. But as a person moves on in life, high school and university f

Will Porn Addiction Affect My Future Marriage ?

Q uestions: As-Salamu Aleikom. I recently decided to get married; even my parents have started looking for a religious girl for me. What makes me worried is that I don’t feel attracted to intercourse. Frankly speaking, I used to watch blue films in my teenage years and read porn magazines along with frequent masturbation. Nowadays, I masturbate much less, but I feel some pain in my penis during erection. I don’t have erection automatically either when watching blue films. I need to add to it that I run my own business which often makes me worried. Should I marry now? Will I face any problem which might cause disturbance in satisfying my wife sexually A nswer: As-Salaamu ‘Alaykum, Congratulations on deciding to take this important step. May Allah (swt) bless your marriage. It’s true that the more a person looks at porn, the harder it is for them to be aroused by a real woman. Therefore, many brothers and sisters harm their marriage before even looking for spouses. Suc

Celebrating the 15th Night of Shaban

Q uestion: Here in Bangladesh, people always celebrate the 15th night of the month of Shaban, which they call “the Night of Shabe-e-Barat”. What do you think of such a practice? A nswer: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have said: “Truly, there are nafahat (blessed seasons or days) in which your Lord vouchsafes plentiful mercy. So, make sure that you make the best use of such seasons!” (At-Tabarani) A true believer should purify himself from the fleshly inclinations and the earthly desires and make his aspirations so high and beseech Allah for mercy in such blessed seasons which witness the abundant mercy of Allah. One point here to be stressed is that a true Muslim should consider his whole life a long-term season of obedience so as to show gratitude to the everlasting blessing of Allah. The month of Shaban is the eighth month of the Islamic lunar calendar. The fifteenth night of this month is known as laylatul-bara’ah (the Night o

I Wish I Had Married a Beautiful Woman

Questions: Assalam alikum, I am a 28-year-old man. I have been married for 7 months now. It was an arranged marriage. My mother showed me 2-3 pictures of my future wife. I saw and liked those pictures and agreed to the marriage. I saw her the first time on the engagement day. I saw her couple of times after the engagement. I was quite happy as she is a religious girl, she is a doctor. My mother gave me a very good feedback about the girl and her family. Just before one month prior to nikah, we spoke over the phone a few times and chatted on WhatsApp. I know this was wrong according to sharia as she was a non-mahram to me. After nikah only I saw her closely. In reality, she has average in looks. She is little short. I assumed she would be taller as it was written in her profile which was given to me. I thought she is very beautiful. I did not share this problem with anyone. However, I don’t really feel attached to her. Maybe because of her average looks. It
