This is a transcription of a
video on the angels Harut and marut and the origin of magic.
Two angels called Harut and
Marut came down to the city of Babylon (Iraq) which it is said to be the most
ancient city, there was no city before Babylon, the first real civilization was
babylon. So we are going back pre Prophet Ibrahim, we’re going back to the
earliest of times, way before Moses and Solomon… so Allah is telling us when
did magic begin.
This is the story.
Allah sent down two angels with
the knowledge how to access the Jinn and the angels were sent to the city of
Babylon; they were allowed to teach anybody who wanted to study with them the
art of magic.
But the angels came with big
disclaimer which was that they said to anybody who came to them: {We are a test
from Allah so don’t commit disbelief by studying with us}
They learned from them what
they would use to cause division between a man and his wife. So they were
learning things so they could use it against someone…” give me a spell that
would cause divorce here…cause a fight there… that’s the spell I want to learn”
{and they are never and were
never ever able to cause any harm to anyone except by the permission of Allah}
What did Allah just reconfirm
here: magic, talismans… whatever they learned in and of itself had no value
except if Allah gave permission.
{And they learned what would
harm them and not benefit them}
Now it’s interesting what they
were learning was to try and harm someone else. But Allah describes it as
something that they would learn to harm themselves. What’s the ultimate harm?
To lose your faith.
{And it produced no benefit for
them}
{And they really knew that who
ever purchases it he will have nothing for him at all of any portion in the
hereafter.}
They already knew that before
they got into it.
{What a horrible thing they
sold themselves for had they only known}
{They learned what would harm
them and not benefit them}
So magic has zero benefit
unlike alcohol, Allah says alcohol has some benefit but the harm outweighs the
benefit.
As for black magic, there is no
benefit… it’s only evil. And the angels told the men {whoever got this
knowledge from them, they would have no share of the next world}
You can literally purchase this
world at the expense of the next.
{and what an evil price they
sold themselves for if they can only understood}
Those who studied it became the
first magicians and all magic that is existant today somehow goes back to
Babylon. And there are different schools and different arts and ways within
magic.
{And they followed [instead]
what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. It was not Solomon who
disbelieved, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic and that which
was revealed to the two angels at Babylon, Harut and Marut. But the two angels
do not teach anyone unless they say, “We are a trial, so do not disbelieve [by
practicing magic].” And [yet] they learn from them that by which they cause
separation between a man and his wife. But they do not harm anyone through it
except by permission of Allah. And the people learn what harms them and does not
benefit them. Whoever purchased the magic would not have in the Hereafter any
share. And wretched is that for which they sold themselves, if they only knew.}
