Actress Lindsay Lohan, who recently has lived in Dubai, appeared over the weekend wearing a black hijab at a London fashion show devoted to Muslim couture.

“Fashion doesn’t always have to be so naked and [it] can be adventurous and still beautiful with a strong group of women behind it,” the 31-year-old told BBC Minute at the second annual London Modest Fashion Week show, dedicated to this $200 billion segment of the apparel industry.

Hawa Cosmetics, a vendor at the show that supplies halal, vegan and vegetarian cosmetics, posted an Instagram photo of a smiling Lohan wearing black pants, a black zippered jacket and the traditional Muslim hair and neck cover known as a hijab, writing “Oh my days! As if Lindsay Lohan came over to say hello to Team Hawa! She was so lovely and was saying how she’s into halal cosmetics and what she’s actually wearing on her face today was all halal!!,” meaning made without ingredients such as pork or bacon that religious Muslims are proscribed from consuming. “Well all I can say is if it’s good enough for Lindsay Lohan, gurlll whatcha all waiting for?!”

Lohan, originally of Cold Spring Harbor and Merrick, has occasionally worn a hijab publicly, sometimes creating speculation, always squelched, that she may be considering converting to Islam.

While the issue did not come up over the weekend, such a rumor was sparked in January 2017 after the “Mean Girls” star and Syrian-refugee activist deleted her Instagram posts, leaving in the header an Arabic phrase she transliterated as “Alaikum salam” — usually rendered “assalamu alaikum” or “as — salaam alaikum” and meaning “Peace to you.” Her representative was subsequently compelled to quash rumors, telling GossipCop.com, “She has not converted [to Islam].”

In April, 2016 when Lohan was photographed in New York carrying a copy of the Quran, a representative said the actress had “a keen interest in the Arabic culture.” That October, in an English-language interview with Turkish TV, she expressed her concern at having been vilified in the United States for having the book, saying, “If [Islam] is something I want to learn, this is . . . my own will.” She also said she was honored when a refugee woman had given her a hijab Lohan had been photographed wearing. “She went out of her own way to allow me to be part of her culture. . . . And maybe she only has two, and she gave me one.”
